Hackensack, NJ (September 30, 2014) – In a capacity-filled ballroom of leading women CEO’s from the New York tri-state area and their guests, Elisabete Miranda of CQ fluency (Hackensack, NJ) was one of 40 women recognized by New York SmartCEO as a recipient of the 2014 Brava! Awards. This year’s winners collectively generated $1.2 billion in revenue and employed more than 49,000 individuals. More than 200 nominations were submitted from across the Mid-Atlantic for the award.
“I am honored and humbled to be among this group of outstanding women business leaders,” said Elisabete Miranda. “As I looked around the room, I could only think about how fortunate I am to be among the women being honored. I was thrilled to have my daughter, who recently opened her own business, clients and partners also celebrate with me. ”
As CEO and founder of CQ fluency, Elisabete Miranda oversees the operations and growth of the company. CQ fluency offers a vast array of culturally adapted translation, trans-creation, interpretation and multicultural solution tools primarily for local and global healthcare organizations. “We are a communications company with a difference. CQ stands for Cultural Intelligence and our mission is to make people’s lives healthier by delivering cultural fluency that ensures that messages are adapted seamlessly for patients– in any language, for any culture.”
A leader and innovator who has received many awards and accolades for her work and leadership, she has made it her mission to help those who speak different languages, culturally connect with each other.
“Brava winners possess the utmost qualities in a leader – vision, passion, compassion, dedication, perseverance. Every one of this year’s winners exhibits these qualities in running their business, their families, and their philanthropic activities. They give 110 percent of themselves,” said Jamie Nespor, regional President of SmartCEO Events. “We are honored to recognize a group of women who are truly making a difference in the world.”
In an interview with SmartCEO, Miranda explained that when she immigrated to the United States from Brazil in 1994, she had a wealth of business experience but didn’t speak English. As she adapted to the new culture and language, she recognized a need for translation and interpretation services to help bring people from different cultures together and enable them to communicate effectively. Through her hard work, determination and tenacity, Miranda learned the English language and nurtured CQ fluency into what it is today.
On global understanding, Miranda explained that Internet-enabled remote meetings and global participation have created an opportunity for thousands of people speaking ten or more languages to participate in real time. CQ fluency pioneered a webcast interpretation service that provides synchronized delivery of the target language over the phone, with no special equipment required, at a significantly affordable price point.
Finally, Elisabete Miranda said CQ fluency sets the standard. “Our business model is based on integrity and achieving extraordinary relationships. We believe in behaving ethically and fairly in our interactions with customers, employees, partners and competitors. Most importantly, we love what we do and have fun doing it. I hold myself to the same standards to which I hold my employees.”
