Latina Entrepreneurship and Business Ownership in New Jersey

Superstorm Sandy hit the state of New Jersey hard in 2012 and since then residents have been picking up the pieces and working passionately to bring the Garden State back to its former glory. Latina entrepreneurs and business owners have played a pivotal role in helping bring New Jersey back on track. Their influence in New Jersey has never been more apparent than in the last decade. According to the latest available Census data, Latinas own about one third of all firms owned by Hispanics in the state.

New Jersey boasts a population of 8.8 million as of 2012, which means the population grew nearly one percent between April 1, 2010 and July 1, 2012. Individuals of Hispanic or Latino origin make up 18.1 percent of the total population.
